Spectrolite Pendant

This one-of-a-kind piece is hand-carved Spectrolite sourced from Madagascar with handmade Smokey Quartz, Scapolite and Spectrolite beads for accent. Strung by hand on durable brown nylon cord, this pendant is an adornment, a talisman, and a steadfast, healing friend.

We also gave it a sliding bead to adjust the length and two bead dangles at the end for ultimate wearing happiness! Length range is approximately 13” – 33.”

Spectrolite (AKA Labradorite) Stone Story

This particular stone is from Madagascar.

I remember the first time I carved Spectrolite around 1995...
The "rule of thumb" then was that
If this stone came from anywhere in the world other than the Canadian province of Labrador,
it was called Spectrolite.
So, if it was from Labrador, it was called Labradorite,
if it was from anywhere else, it was called Spectrolite.

But now that tide has changed.
There is one variety of this stone that comes from Finland
and it alone is called Spectrolite.
All the rest Labradorite.

The first piece I cut was a small piece from Finland.
It had a dark black background
and a tight lattice of interwoven light patterns of all colors that
leapt off the flat surface of the Pendant...
I fell in love.

The next piece was material from Madagascar, Like the piece here.

When I started to work with it I heard the song
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine!
Let it shine!
Let it shine!

I have since cut many pieces of this magnificent stone
and it never fails that I get a bit teary
when I feel the sweet encouraging energy that this stone emits.
It encourages us to allow our unique and precious light shine in the world.
Reminds us that our light is an integral part of the collective.
And helps us develop and communicate that light.

Recently on my Pilgrimage across Spain,
it was the one pendant stone I wore.
So powerful, inclusive and encouraging...
