We all fall into using our well-worn "I am" statements
in passing, conversation, and as excuses.
I am fine...
I am frugal...
I am busy...
But it is quite another to start believing those statements.
They are powerful and create our lives.
Keeping it real = imperative.
I have heard myself say
Things like I am an "early riser"
or a I am a "hard worker"
I have conditioned myself into believing and living those statements.
But we are changing beings.
Questioning our well-worn "I am" statements
helps us drop the masks.
It can open us to what is true now.
Questioning whose beliefs or values where they originally?
Because it is a good bet we adopted that belief from someone else.
Practices that keep it real for me:
Having a women's circle (sometimes more than one).
When I open my mouth in council circle with these beloved women,
I have no idea what is going to come out,
but it resonates with a truth that awakens me to the fire of my soul.
I am always surprised and it feels like a miracle.
Using the mirror.
Stand in front of the mirror and really look deeply when you are repeating those statements
is very telling.
And of course practicing self-compassion.
The more compassionate we are with ourselves
the more compassion we have with others,
and it really does make the world a better place.
Love is here for you,
The door is open.
