Compacted, age hardened, iron rich mud.
Precious rivulets of liquid infused color.
and delicious flow.
Rooted and watery,
hard and soft
opaque and translucent
we hold it all.
The strong winds of change
Stirring the leaves that have laid languid in the late summer sun.
Scattering the clouds across the sky, stretching them relentlessly
Tossing bygone dreams like tumble weeds down the hill of life.
The winds in their full force fury feel chaotic and scary.
And when they cease, we are swept clean.
Grateful for what is left standing and humbled in our humanness.
