Soul Path

Sleeping Beauty Turquoise

The path winds
through woods unknown.
At each crossroads
there is an opportunity
to doubt your direction.

At times the path
that the world sees
as the "right" path,
can simultaneously
be the one that
you can not take...
if,
 you are to stay true
to your heart and soul.

Love is here for you,
The door is open.

Away...

Do you ever have times
when even the relationships and things that you love and cherish most, feel flat and colorless?

A remedy:
Take yourself out of the comfort of the life that you have created.
Place yourself in very different and unusual context,
Leave your comfort zone,
Challenge yourself.

When you return,
the full vibrant texture and depth reemerges.

Love is here for you,
The door is open.

Here...

Moldavite
As we find ourselves in yet another situation
that is new and unknown.
Living on the precipice of our experience,
in a frontier of our creation.
Looking toward poetry often for understanding,
solace, direction... peace.
This one is good.

Lost

Stand still.

The trees ahead and the bushes beside you Are not lost.

Wherever you are is called Here,

And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,

Must ask permission to know it and be known.

The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,

I have made this place around you, If you leave it you may come back again, saying Here.

No two trees are the same to Raven.

No two branches are the same to Wren.

If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,

You are surely lost. Stand still.

The forest knows Where you are.

You must let it find you.

-An old Native American elder story rendered into modern English by David Wagoner, in The Heart Aroused by David Whyte

Love is here for you,
The door is open.

Compassion, Tolerance and Empathy...

Chrome Calcite

Compassion
Tolerance
Empathy
Yesterday I had a run in with a man in a parking structure.
He believed that I was going too slow and when I stopped to see wether I could fit my car in a space, he honked his horn, then went around me with much tire squealing and engine revving.
I instantly felt horrible.
I felt angry, sad, unsafe and sorry.
Yes, sorry... See I have a cold and I knew that was not operating at my normal speed or adeptness and I was sorry I was in his way.

I ended up behind him and witnessed this driving behavior to the third floor. I parked near him and asked him if he needed help. I said he obviously was in a serious hurry and angry maybe there was something I could help with so he didn't hurt someone.
What ensued was a conversation that lasted about a block as we walked to our mutual destinations.
He explained to me how women are inferior and how I am a stereotype. How men are superior and he was particularly trained to be superior, and how he is important, doing important things, and I am in his way.
Nothing that I could say to him about safety, compassion or tolerance made any difference he just laughed at me.
I was so saddened by this encounter.
Afterward I couldn't stop crying as I realized that this complete lack of empathy for women, is what leads to these horrible happenings like last weekend in Isla Vista.

Personally, I felt unsafe the whole time I was talking with him, and maybe my hero persona was having her way with me, but even more alive in me than self-preservation, was a feeling that if I could just become a real person to him, rather than a stereotype that he wanted out of his way, it could save someones life.
Maybe his.

I feel blessed to be in a community where I am so surrounded by conscious men who truly love and care for others,
that I am shocked when I encounter lost men like this.
I forget they exist... but they do.
So grateful to organizations like The Mankind Project, the Charter for Compassion, and AHA! and to the wonderful people who dedicate their lives to teaching compassion, tolerance and empathy.

Love is here for you,
The door is open.

Moonstone Presence...

Rainbow Moonstone
Sometimes life seems to go by in a blur.
One thought after the other, day after day, a week flies by, a year... you find yourself witnessing the girls and boys in your life becoming women and men, and then parents, and the elders of your life graduating from this earth.
A heart wrenchingly beautiful cycle.
It is interesting to watch the resistance to simply dropping deeply and fully into this present moment.
To be completely in touch with you... right now.
Letting go of all future doings, allowing the full expression of you... to express,
to feel it all.

Love is here for you,
The door is open.

Beyond Sufficient...

Kyanite in Quartz

This morning the first lines of the Patrick Kavanagh poem, The Self Slaved are bouncing around...
"Me I will throw away,
Me, sufficient for the day."
You can find the whole magnificent poem here
but it is these first lines that have my attention.
How many days of life go by
sufficiently....?
Especially in this heatwave we have been experiencing,
feeling sufficiently productive feels like a major accomplishment.

But you can feel,
as well as I can,
the "me, that is sufficient for the day" is uninspired...
She is dragging herself through the list, the work, the responsibilities.

Where is the inspiration for a day beyond sufficient?
HERE...NOW.
It is simply BE-ing.
It is how we are BE-ing in the world, with our list, in our work, our responsibilities.
A way of holding them,
that no matter what is actually accomplished,
we have given life,
this moment of creation,
NOW,
our attention.
It is this attention to the moments of the journey,
Be-ing present to them, available with them, that inspires a life beyond sufficient.

Love is here for you,
The door is open.

Humble Rumble...

Sugilite

Humility.
To be humble.
This word is derived from the root humus (earth).
It is "grounded", "from the earth."
And as many of you who have visited the studio know,
one of our favorite books written on the stones, is titled
"Love is in the Earth." by Melody.
And that is what we are all about, GROUNDED LOVE.
There is a humble, love fest going on, It is under our feet with every step of our lives, and on Thursday's we remember and celebrate that.
Earth's treasures may be covered by concrete but they are still radiating that humble/grounded love, and will never stop.
So the next time you step out of your car or house, as your foot touches this earth give yourself the gift of remembering humble/grounded love is supporting every footfall.
Love is here for you,
The door is open.

Beltane Morning...

Holy Heat Wave...
the last two days melted me...
tired, cranky, not feeling great.

But this morning is stunningly gorgeous.
There is a light cool breeze,
and hundreds of birds singing their morning songs.

Happy May Day!
Beltane...
The celebration of rebirth.
In ancient times we would jump over the fire invoking the energies that we wanted to bring in to our lives.
What is it that you are wanting to invoke?
I can feel "slowness", "in rhythm with nature", as my call.
Let's just imagine for one minute, all of us around a small lively fire, jumping one at a time over its flames calling out our desires for this season of rebirth.
Happy Beltane!
I love you so much
The door is open.

Today and Tonight

BoulderOpal

SO excited about the talk tonight.
Feels amazing to rest in absolute trust that the universe,
and this rockin' community,
are are on board for whatever is of the highest good.
AND that absolute trust lives side by side
with an unsure part that prefers to stay a little freaked out.
(like it's going to help!)
That part is still not quite sure that it's on board with the "live full out and give the gifts you have to give"
motto of life.
Because speaking in public is vulnerable,
any number of things can happen.
Have you ever had the dream
where you were about to start your talk
and suddenly realized you forgot to put on your pants?
Well I just woke up from that dream,
it was right after the one where
the technology wouldn't work,
and right before the one where
I forgot everything I was going to say.
But honestly, I don't need to remember
what I am going to say
because it lives insides of me, it is my experience.
(and I have great notes :))

The truth is, every one of us was born to share
about our vision/version of experience on this planet.
Every one of us has something unique
to share about being this spirit in a body.
Every one of us has tools and insights
we have gathered on the journey which bring
comfort, inspiration, and happiness
to one another.
Tonight, I am so grateful for the opportunity to share some of mine with you.
And to share this Magical evening with these
beautiful inspiring men Jeff and Georg.
Hope to see you there.
I love you so much
The door is open.

The After Party...

Moonstone

Portal Day.
The day of birth.
A day to celebrate year after year,
(wether we feel like it or not:)
A day transformed by Facebook,
where people we have known through out our lives,
pop out of a forest of posts to wish us well.
Another day to thank our mothers
for birthing us into this world.
A day to reflect on who we have been,
who we would like to become.
A day to discover how we can love our loved ones
even more...
AND
A day to offer free beads!
So, although yesterday was my actual birthday...
If you come into the studio today,
a free bead awaits.
I love you so much
The door is open.
